We were lucky enough to escape the cold of Minnesota to checkout Scottsdale Auction Week 2020. The agenda included a couple private parties to see their collections, a talk by David Hobbs recalling his time in the racing world (absolutely captivating) followed by a private guided tour of the Scottsdale Art Museum Race Car display with Lynn St James.
Donald Osbourne also provided a tour of the most significant cars at the RM Sotheby’s auction, and then we went on to attend Gooding and Barrett Jackson auctions with several of the auction cars coming to the AutoMotorPlex Medina.
Some amazingly rare and historic cars were at the auction including one that we have never seen before… a stunningly beautiful 1956 Jaguar xk140 Aerodyne built by coachbuilder John C Toom which ended up selling for twice the auction estimate.
We had a close up look at the new Mustang Mach E, looks great in person.
We also had our second close look [1st at Monterrey Week] at the 2020 C8 Corvette, it’s even better in person. We were there for the auction of the first C8 charity car that sold for $3M to Rick Hendricks.
When it seems like it can’t get better… sometimes it’s who you know.. let’s just says two new C8 will be arriving at the campus this Spring.
Be sure to mark your calendar for Caffeine and Octane Minneapolis because you might see one or more of these cars sometime this summer.
